A payment gateway for Malaysia

Problem

Accept and route many payment methods — card, wallet, bank transfer, QR, BNPL, Islamic (Shariah-compliant) BNPL, and VISA IPP — through one gateway for the Malaysian market.

Constraints

Many payment-method integrations, Shariah compliance for Islamic BNPL, and high availability with elastic scale under transaction spikes.

Approach

Architected the gateway and its event-driven core from scratch across multiple services; each payment method is a pluggable adapter, deployed on AWS ECS with auto-scaling.

Constraints

Tenant data isolation, three distinct UX surfaces, and a single codebase that stays maintainable as features grow.

Approach

Domain-driven design with bounded contexts per role, a shared core with tenant-scoped data, and a Laravel API behind React surfaces.

Move money from the EU to Africa, paying out across many banks, e-wallets, and cash-withdrawal points.

Constraints

Many payout-rail integrations, settlement accuracy, compliance, and reliable delivery per corridor.

Approach

Per-rail payout adapters for bank, e-wallet, and cash; queue-driven processing; split across two codebases — a React Native app and a Laravel API.
